Renamed the Museu Zer0 // Centro de Arte Digital ILC association in 2023, and now based at the Santa Catarina da Fonte do Bispo Agricultural Cooperative, the association that launched the project to create the Museu Zer0 was the Instituto Lusíada de Cultura, a non-profit association founded in 1982 and declared to be of public utility in 1991.
1 - The purpose of the Museu Zer0 is to carry out national and international activities in the fields of creation, promotion and exhibition of digital artworks.
2 - In pursuit of its object, the Museu Zer0 has the following purposes:
Coordinating and monitoring the implementation of digital arts strategies and monitoring the impact of their application;
Develop activities dedicated to the creation, presentation and enjoyment of digital artworks;
Setting up artistic creation and exhibition centres to promote research, technological development and awareness of digital art;
Promote initiatives aimed at attracting new audiences to the digital arts;
Liaise within the institutional framework of digital arts with public and private organisations, both Portuguese and international;
Contribute to Portugal's position in the international recognition of digital arts;
Stimulate networking and knowledge sharing between institutions, companies, artists, researchers and other players in the digital transformation process;
Participate in dissemination and support platforms for digital publishing, as well as in laboratory spaces for content production;
Submitting applications for national and European funding and participating in its execution to implement actions to support the digital arts;
To sign collaboration protocols with any organisations within the scope of its mission.
3- The Museu Zer0 association's governing bodies are the General Assembly, the Board of Directors, the Supervisory Board and the Strategic Council.
The General Assembly is the Association's highest body and is responsible for defining the general lines of action, assessing management and electing the members of the governing bodies;
The Board of Directors is the administrative body of the Association and is responsible for exercising all the powers necessary to pursue the activities that fall within its objectives;
The Supervisory Board, among other things, is responsible for assessing and issuing an opinion on the annual report and accounts and on the activities plan and budget for the following years;
The Strategic Council is the Association's strategic advisory body and is made up of personalities of recognised suitability, integrity, competence and merit. The role of the Strategic Council is to provide advice in the economic, technical and scientific fields, as well as on issues relevant to the pursuit of the Association's aims.
The Museu Zero association takes as its corporate values the desire to support the cultural industries for artistic creation in digital art, supported by new technologies, the protection and valorisation of the environment, the territory and the cultural values of the Algarve region, close to the resident communities and with a vocation for networking at national and international level.
