Linha de Erosão is an audiovisual installation that presents an ecosystem in constant transformation. Elements of nature are represented through lights, sound and video, in an immersive environment where destruction seems imminent.
This project began with photographic documentation of coastal erosion in Portugal, specifically at São Pedro da Maceda beach. The phenomenon is common in the region, but the climate crisis is accelerating this process. Between 2017 and 2021, the sea rose 33.5 metres, figures considered alarming by the Portuguese Environment Agency.
Over the course of two years, the artist documented the constant change in the visual and sound landscape. From the strong winds that knock down trees to the sea that advances and crashes into the walls of sand.
